Conditions

Snowing, with 3 to 4 inches of fresh powder on all runs overnight. Conditions much improved.

Overall

We got up on Sunday to a snowstorm. Stiff muscles everywhere meant that it was touch an go whether I skied at all.

The others convinced me to give it another go. The fresh snow would be wonderful, they said, and the skiing would work out the stiffness. They were right on both counts.

There was several inches of fresh snow on the top of the groomed run and it continued to snow all through the morning. The first run showed the importance of waxing. I hit a wet patch, stopped dead and went down hard. With fresh wax on the skis I took another novice lesson and once again there was a noticeable improvement.

This time, for the first time, I managed to ski all the way down a slope. It was not all that long, but it was very hard work and I felt a real sense of achievement,

At the end of the lesson we ventured onto a blue slope for the first time.

After this, it was a flight to Washington from Burlington, the state capital of Vermont and back to work. For several days, it was clear to all that I had been involved in some form of physical activity. Walking and in particular stairs was painful.

Easy Runs

Easy Rider: Shorter, flatter than Easy Street, but made more difficult by fresh powder.

Intermediate Runs

Lower Hot Shot (Bottom)
